Viscoelastic Soil–Structure Interaction Procedure for Building on Footing Foundations Considering Consolidation Settlements

This paper presents a numerical methodology to analyze frame structures supported on footing foundations subjected slow strains caused by consolidation settlements. A building project subsurface layer of soft soil has been analyzed. The Boundary Element Method with the Mindlin fundamental solution applied compute displacement resulting from interference between pressure bulbs foundation. rheological Kelvin–Voigt model also used for soil–structure interactions. Terzaghi’s Theory Consolidation was fit displacement–time curves. Finally, coupled through an iterative procedure, employing structural non-linear geometric effects. results are consistent settlement predicted effects and revealed that distribution efforts can cause relevant increases in some regions structure building.
